Position: Enterprise Risk Management Consultant

Skill Level: Senior. Minimum of 15 years related risk, program or project management experience on technology based initiatives.

Location: Springfield, VA. Infrequent local travel anticipated to sites within the National Capital Region.

Security Clearance Requirement: Minimum DoD SECRET Clearance level.

Description

This role is for a senior technical and functional expert supporting Enterprise Risk Management on a large sized Department of Defense (DoD) project assignment. In this capacity, you will provide leadership and direction on the required approach to proactively identify, assess, monitor, and manage risks within the assigned Client project/program, and to develop strategies for effective mitigation, avoidance, transfer, or acceptance as appropriate.

You will be expected to work independently as well as part of team to use risk management best practice methodology frameworks and tools to identify, describe, and alert the Program Manager to risks and suggest means to avoid or mitigate the attendant risks.

Duties Include

  • Manage the development and execution of a Risk, Issue and Opportunity (RIO) Management Plan (RMP).

  • Perform independent reviews and evaluations to ensure risks, issues, and opportunities are appropriately documented, tracked, evaluated, and managed or mitigated in accordance with the RMP.

  • Perform highly specialized technical tasks associated with cutting-edge technologies within the field of Risk Management of solutions, including quality reporting and analysis, to ensure that risks and exposures are identified and mitigated.

  • Utilize Root Cause Analysis processes for all serious events; investigating and communicating to senior leadership, working collaboratively with Quality Management team.

  • Develop a risk model matrix to be used by all business units to assess their plans to be presented at monthly client facing meetings.

  • Manage the development and execution of a Quality Control and Assurance Program Plan that is rooted in industry best practices and includes, at a minimum, Quality control and assurance measures and activity schedule quality reviews and studies of the assigned program activities as appropriate, and the Quality control of deliverables and activities.

  • Provide support in the development and implementation of program documentation including policy, process, and procedural documentation.

  • Works with user groups to solve Risk Management problems with available technology including hardware, software, databases, and peripherals.

  • Applies expert functional knowledge and experience to significant business projects or processes.

  • Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff.

  • May serve as a technical task or project leader.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant developments in area of expertise.

  • Participates in special projects as required.

Required Skills

  • Personnel must be U.S. citizens and capable of obtaining and maintaining a minimum DoD SECRET Clearance level or preferably a final DoD TS/SCI security clearance.

  • Experience working within a DoD program or project and with full SDLC participation experience in a technical capacity. 

  • Certified in risk and project management; possessing a Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP), PRINCE 2, or a Certificate in Program Management (CMP)

  • Knowledge in various phases of project management including planning and work breakdown structures, pre-construction services, sourcing and procurement of contracts, contract administration, scheduling, cost estimating, quality management, project reporting, and project closeout

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, records retention and work paper organizational skills

  • ITIL v3 Foundations (optional but recommended).
