Position:  Senior System Engineer

Employment Type: Full Time

Skill Level:  Minimum of 5 years of related systems engineering experience

Location: On-site at either Springfield, Virginia (with some local travel to government sites as required while supporting assigned duties).

Security Clearance Requirement: Must possess at minimum a Department of Defense (DoD) issued Secret Clearance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be capable of maintaining a Department of Defense (DoD) issued security clearance during employment.

Description

Primary objective for this role is to support and sustain automation and orchestration engineering activities that include but are not limited to the following technologies: PowerShell and SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager. 
As part of an enterprise systems engineering contract support team, you will be expected to work seamlessly with a cross-functional, fast paced team as well as independently.

Duties Include

  • Understand, document, and configure automation and orchestration scripts in accordance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG).

  • Developing enterprise SolarWinds automation environment using Network Configuration Manager.

  • Support and integrate with Network administrators on execution and implementation of automation and orchestration scripts.

  • Creates and maintains detailed system documentation to include System Security Plans (SSP), Engineering Design Plans, Operations and Sustainment plans, Test Plans, and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents.

  • Provides application training and technical guidance.

  • Work will be performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.

Desired Skills

  • 5-years systems engineering experience 

  • Proven experience and expertise as a SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager.

  • Proven experience with coding and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Batch files, etc.)

  • Proven experience and expertise with infrastructure activities and technologies including but not limited to: data center operations, server hardware, operating systems, web servers, databases (MSSQL, MySQL, postgreSQL), virtualization, networking, storage, monitoring, etc.

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): SQL 2016 Database Administration or MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Development is required. 

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • May be required to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours as required.

  • Depending on job assignment, additional (company sponsored) specific certifications may be required.

  • Comply to DOD 8570.01 Manual Compliance for IAT level 2: Security +/CE and Operating System Certificate
