Position: Software Solutions Manager

Location: Remote (with some routine travel to the client site at Ft. Meade MD or Quantico, VA expected)

The Software Solutions Manager supports our client leadership by contributing to the strategizing, design, and implementation of agile, scalable, and efficient mission applications. S/he will support AWS Platform projects, collaborating with program and team leadership, Business Analysts, Solution Architects, System Owners, Cloud and Data Engineers and other Architects to understand stakeholder requirements and outcome objectives, develop use cases, and provide tradeoffs and recommendations towards building scalable and efficient mission services.

The Software Solutions Manager will collaborate, coordinate, and communicate with internal teams and other stakeholders to support the creation and maintenance of a mission application stack and underline infrastructure to serve the user community as well as authorized admins to manage the application and data.

The Software Solutions Manager is also responsible for developing and updating documents related to mission application services, e.g., planning and strategy documents, workflows (including control and data flows) among system components, DoDAF views as well as executive briefings on the solution planning, architecture, security and compliance, governance, and processes for application and data services.

Duties Include

  • Support driving mission solutions, architecture design, management, integration, user experience requirements, system integration development, acceptance test definition and service modeling including interfaces to internal and external systems, and when appropriate for service deployment automation from concept to execution to general release

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to analyze and recommend best practices for the design, development, and implementation of end-to-end mission solutions in Cloud, especially AWS

  • Organize, facilitate, or participate in technical and non-technical planning, review, brainstorming sessions to fully understand and articulate clients’ system requirements, support roadmap development and gap analysis, manage stakeholder expectations, and incorporate user feedback to improve mission solutions

  • Evolve an agile release development environment, and as appropriate, develop and verify enhancements to the deployment, automation, and verification toolsets

  • Review and validate architecture design as well as help establish governance and processes for operations

  • Analyze and recommend architecture refinement to achieve cost savings in AWS and develop recommendations and plans to right-size AWS infrastructure to better support the mission applications

  • Build proofs-of-concept (POC) occasionally to address specific business needs using the most appropriate techniques, data sources and technologies

  • Lead and manage the customer (internal/external) during solution discussions, scoping, timelines discussion and other needed activities to achieve effective solution closure and serve as a trusted advisor

  • Prepare and review briefings, white papers, and other project documentation for mission solutions.  Help the team visualize and understand priorities and impact to program delivery for effective backlog planning, track tasks and schedule for standardized progress reporting, analyze solution alternatives for sound decision making, etc.

Desired Skills

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant STEM discipline with 7 or more years of relevant experience

  • A deep consultative experience and executive relationships in DoD IT services preferably with an emphasis in the technology or decision science arena

  • Knowledge and skills in software development in all phases of the SDLC life cycle and Big Data Architectures, Cloud and on premise

  • Knowledge and skills in DevSecOPs process and quality assurance for continuous delivery solutions

  • Knowledge and skills in technology consulting, development, enterprise and solutions architecture and architectural frameworks in AWS/Azure platforms

  • Strong visual design orientation and experience in specifications, technical design, development and addressing performance issues

  • Team player, motivated to learn new technologies, and able to grasp concepts and technologies quickly with analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong leadership skills and attitude of turning challenges into opportunities

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to present and explain technical information to executives as well as technical and non-technical teams

  • Working knowledge of Agile Methodology and Kanban

  • Knowledge and skills in popular Cloud application development languages and tools such as Java, .Net, Python, and SQL, etc.

  • Ability to build trust, with a natural desire to do well and have fun

  • Proficient in JIRA, Confluence, and Sparx

  • AWS Certification: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Big Data Certification and/or AWS Certified Data Analytics
