Position: Systems Engineer

Skill Level: Mid-to-Senior

Location: Remote (with some routine travel to the client site at Ft. Meade Maryland expected)

Security Clearance Requirement: US Citizens only that are Clearable personnel (Department of Defense SECRET or TS level clearance may be required)

Description

As a Systems Engineer, you will work with the client PMO on a myriad of activities.  Ideal candidate overall must have a well-rounded skillset, mixing DevOps, cloud, agile development methodologies and systems engineering experience.  Candidate should be knowledgeable about IaaS and PaaS and SaaS systems.

Duties Include

• Providing technical leadership and guidance for an enterprise-wide application consisting of several sub applications

• Collaborating with government customers to grow an existing enterprise wide application that is internal and external to the agency

• Developing and analyzing requirements and breaking down requirements into manageable tasks.

• Developing implementation schedules, and advising on alternative approaches

• Developing system engineering and life cycle support documentation (e.g., architecture diagrams, network flow diagrams, Security Concept of Operations)

• Providing oral and written communication to client personnel, teammates and other contractor.

Required Skills

DEVOPS ENGINEERING

  • Agile and DevSecOps project background

  • Experience with source control systems; workload automation & scheduling tools; and application build & deployment automation concepts & tools

  • Keen understanding of DevOps tools and programs such as Puppet, Chef, Jira, Jira Service Desk, GitLab, Selenium, SonarQube, Check Mar. 

  • Containerization knowledge to include Kubernetes, Docker or AWS.

  • Deep practical knowledge on deploying DevOps tools into AWS.

  • CLOUD ENGINEERING

  • Knowledge of AWS and services including EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, etc.

  • Understanding of Cloud and Cloud API technologies

  • Experience using cloud Services in an Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) or Platform as Service (PAAS) environment.

NETWORK/SECURITY ENGINEERING

  • Knowledge on Identity and Access Management

  • Solid security, infrastructure and network Operations knowledge

  • Cyber Security and threat modeling knowledge

SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

  • Systems Engineering Knowledge to include ability to perform trade studies, Alternative Analysis, technical requirements capture to translate into technical design.

  • Document and design various processes; update existing processes

  • Business metrics gathering and data analysis

  • Ability to elicit requirements and enable them to be actionable.

SOFT SKILLS

  • Good Presentation skills

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audience.

  • Ability to prioritize and work multiple requests coming down the pipeline

  • Ability to develop technical briefings and white papers to present to technical and non-technical audience

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude when encountering changes in the workplace

  • Ability to exercise good judgement
